The most dramatic change

The pictures speak for themselves. We officially have a house, no longer just boards and wires and pipes. The finished hanging the drywall last week and it will take them about two weeks to finish it. Then paint!!!

This is standing in the family room looking into the kitchen. The range will go on the other side of the half wall, the refridgerator on the wall to the right, in front of the brick, and the sink will go under the two windows.

We can no longer walk through the walls...

Airtite Insulation came and installed our insulation in about 2-3 days. The house feels so much cozier now! It's a dark color so all the rooms look dark, but we can kind of get a feel for how big they really are and how they are going to look with drywall. It's a little disappointing to not be able to walk through the walls, we have to actually take the extra effort and go through doorways now!

Plumbing!

We were soooo excited when Kyle and Rick finished plumbing the house and passed the inspection on the first try! It was a huge job!

And soon we can have this:

Windows are In!

We finally got some the new windows put in! We still have some boards up, but those are the old windows that we have to fix. This shows the three windows in the dining room, one in the front living room and one in a bedroom upstairs. It's so nice to have sunlight in the house! It's hard to tell, but the windows have six panels at the top and one big one on the bottom. Mom, Courtney and I painted the grids dark green last weekend. Around the windows is going to be a really light green, almost white. We haven't painted that color yet.
This is the view from the inside of one of the upstairs bedrooms. Check out all that sunlight!
Here's the front of the house. Amanda stripped the two columns while she was in Paducah for rotations. I went ahead and primed them so they weren't exposed to the winter weather, they'll look better when they are the actual color! You can kind of see the future color selections in the downstairs windows on the porch. The dark green with surrounding light green. The windows in the dormer look so much better than a big piece of wood!

Beams, Stairs, Windows, Yay!

It's been a long time since I've put any pictures on here. A LOT has been happening at the house. Kyle has moved to Paducah and has spent a lot of time with the framing and now has started on the plumbing.
This is a picture of the kitchen. Kyle is standing about where the fridge will go. He and his dad put up all the beams. They will have molding on them after the dry wall goes up.
This is the beam in the front living room. There are similar ones in the dining room and master bedroom. We thought the roof was going to fall in when this one was going up! The floors above are very nice and level! These beams won't show after the dry wall goes up.
This is one huge accomplishment! We can now go upstairs without climbing a ladder (which means I can get downstairs without feeling like I'm going to fall off a ladder!) This is what you see when you walk in the front door.
We got our windows in! We are pretty excited about them!
I think this sacrifice needs to be documented. Pulling nails out of floor boards is maybe not such a good job for me. Two days before we were scheduled for engagement pictures. Great.

We Have Stairs!

Kyle helped me use a nail gun to put up a floor joist.

Nailing down a tread on the stairway from the basement to the first floor.

Kyle and Rick proud of their accomplishment!

The finished product! They are very sturdy!

My accomplishment for the day- with the help of a heat gun I stripped 80 years of paint off this column! Almost ready for our paint.

Goodbye, Screened Porch

After months of living with an ugly front porch, we finally tore the screen down.

We're very happy with the way that it makes the house look more open and bright!

We also made a huge accomplishment by choosing exterior paint colors. We've picked three different shades of green. Here's Mom showing off our first painted window. Check out those edging skills!

A huge Thank You to Kyle's brother Benjamin for tearing out 6 inches of tile and concrete from the bathroom floor! He might not want to come back and visit again until there's an actual bathroom here...

Kyle and his dad finished replacing the floor joists and putting down subfloor in the master bathroom. It's ready for the clawfoot tub! (after a little tile, plumbing, electric, drywall...)
